Whole grain cookie bars

I made these the other day, and they were so good! You could hardly tell these cookie bars were whole grain. My husband already ate half the pan, because he enjoyed them so much. Not only were they good, but they were so easy to whip up!

 

1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups quick oats
2 cups milk chocolate chips

Cream together the butter and sugars. Mix in eggs, vanilla, salt and baking soda. Blend in flour and oats. Stir in chocolate chips. spread in greased 8" x 11" or 9" x 9 " baking dish. Bake at 325 for 28 minutes or until top is browned but center is still under-baked.

  1. yummmm! thanks for this idea camille! i wanted to tell you, i made these- but i substituted half the butter for applesauce, and took out the white sugar. i also added 1/4cup ground flaxseed. i fed them to dallin's family and they had no idea they were so healthy! they were SO good so thank you!! :)
